Reimagining HBCUs Beyond 2024: Critical Conversations with University Presidents Envisioning the Future of American Higher Education

We are delighted that you are interested in learning more.

In observance of our 75th anniversary, the chapter felt that the best way to commemorate the auspicious occasion was to convene a symposium which would focus on the future of HBCUs.

By all accounts, the event was highly successful, attracting nearly 200 participants representing alumni, staff, faculty, media, and friends from 28 HBCUs around the country.

Joining us at the symposium was a panel of three distinguished HBCU leaders:
Dr. Glenda Glover, of Tennessee State University, Dr. Larry Robinson of Florida A&M University and Dr. David Wilson of Morgan State University. We were also pleased to have Dr. Dietra Trent, Executive Director, White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Historically Black Colleges and Universities as our keynote Speaker.

One of the goals of the symposium was to make a lasting contribution to HBCUs. To honor that commitment, we developed a written report of the recommendations that emanated from the general body and small group discussions. The recommendations and the details are categorized by HBCUs, government, alumni and corporations & foundations.

We hope that you will find the report useful as you work with HBCUs, alumni of HBCUs, government entities and/or foundations in continuing the HBCU legacy of opportunity, empowerment, and progress for students.
